I'm learning a lot hanging out with my photo friends and have met and am constantly meeting new people who are very talented.. (PS yes, hornit is spelled incorrectly if it's the name of the bug. h-o-r-n-i-t was the name of my father's military group)

Heron Rookery 4-5 13 : http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Home/species_a_to_z/SpeciesGuideIndex/greatblueheron/tabid/6648/Default.aspx Great Blue heron Ardea herodias • Mating: Monogamous • Peak of Breeding Activity: March 25-April 15 • Incubation Period: 28 days • Young Hatch: May • Number of Eggs: 3-7, usually 4 • Eggs Produced: Once a year, but they will renest if a nest is destroyed. • Feeding Periods: Herons feed during both day and night. • Typical Foods: Fish, snakes, frogs, crustaceans, birds, small mammals, and insects. Description The great blue heron stands nearly four feet tall. It has a whitish head with black plumes that originate just above its eyes and project out behind its head. The plumage of the body is brown, black, and white, yet it gives an overall appearance of being a bluish-gray color. The toes of its feet are not webbed. For the most part, great blue herons are silent birds; they utter a rough croaking sound when alarmed or harassed. Habitat and Habits The great blue heron is found in both freshwater and saltwater habitats. It prefers shallow water areas with trees for nesting nearby. Great blue herons may be found along the banks of rivers or at the shores of major water ways such as Lake Erie. The herons will migrate to warmer areas with unfrozen waters in the winter; rarely does a great blue heron remain in the state at this time of year. They return to Ohio as soon as the ice melts mid-February in warm years and mid-March during a particularly long or cold winter. Reproduction and Care of the Young These birds are colonial nesters, with 10 to 75 pairs nesting in one location. Both the male and the female will incubate the eggs, and once the young have hatched feed them by regurgitating food into their mouths. In Ohio breeding occurs generally from the end of March through mid-April. The hatching period begins after 28 days of incubation, usually reaching its peak in May. Once the young herons hatch, they are altrical, or helpless. The young birds will have matured enough to leave the nest after about 60 days.

Snow 12-27-12 : I wanted to get some pictures in the snow today because we got about 8 inches since yesterday. The parking lots in the park hadn't been plowed yet or I would have had more. I went out to Lake Milton to see how it looked there and almost got stuck on our street- one lane plowed and I had to back out down the curvy (more curvy than I had remembered) road and almost got stuck. Lindsey went with me to the park and then had to come home.

Benezett, Pa 9-13 & 14-2012 : Steve and I went to Benezett, Pa for the Elk Rut this year for 1 night. I was about 85 degrees so the elk didn't come out till later in the evening. We stayed at the local hotel and the mattress was so bad neither one of us slept. We headed for the viewing fields before the sun came up and it was very foggy (hard to photograph) Met some nice folks (Mike & Nicole). We met Pete and Amy for lunch on our way home. It took a little over 3 hours because of construction and we were both exhausted when we got here.

Stebbins Gulch, Holden Arboretum, & Lake Erie 1-21-12 : We had our first winter storm during the night and I had to leave early to meet the group at Holden Arboretum. We had 6 inches of snow and the roads were so horrible I almost turned around and went home (and I like driving in the snow). Once I got to the turnpike it was clear and the roads north of the turnpike were pretty clear, though my hour and a half drive took a good 2 hours! We all met up at the Arboretum then drove to Stebbins Gulch. We hiked about a mile uphill in the snow carrying our gear and then down into the ravine. The water was fairly high and moving over huge chunks of ice. and the footing was pretty treacherous. Betsy's friend Phil pretty went pretty much head first into the icy water when his walking stick broke as he was going down "steps" in the frigid creek. Vicki got a bootfull of freezing water. It would have been pretty risky to stay so we left. We walked the mile back to the car and went to Holden Arboretum so she could get some dry footwear (she had brought a dry set of boots and socks) and we could keeping shooting. We stayed for awhile at the Arboretum then went to Lake Erie. I could have stayed at the lake all day!

Liz bridal show 1-8-12 : Elizabeth was in another bridal show so Jessica and I went and signed up to win free bridal stuff (we didn't win). Liz and 2 others were modeling "haute couture". Looked a little like Halloween to me. They did Liz's hair and makeup. Different. It was very difficult to shoot: white and colored spot lights in very low light. Liz was the first one out and I didn't have the settings right- then I figured the hell with it and put the camera on auto.

Kayaking 11-5-11 : We had a great day to be on the water yesterday with TCT. I was impressed by how good the dogs were- they just sat on their owners' boats and took it all in (or slept). And once again Mike ended up in the water-he had his wet suit on but it was still really chilly: water temp about 40 and air 55. Great bunch of folks here!

Joplin, Missouri tornado aftermath : On June 3 I went with the Red Cross to Joplin, Missouri because they were so short of nurses. It was a great experience. One day I worked in the field, driving up and down the devastated streets with a mental health worker. We would stop if we saw anyone out and offer them first aid, water, gloves, masks, toys for kids and if they needed anything else we could contact a Red Cross emergency response vehicle and have it brought to them. (shovels, rakes, food, etc). It was about 99 degrees- soooo hot! The next 6 days I worked inside the multi agency resource center (MARC) and did first aid, helped them get glasses, meds,scripts, and medical equipment), I can't even imagine how the folks that survived this cope with thunderstorms now. We've had a few serious thunderstorms since I was in Joplin and I'm so much more freaked out than I was prior to this trip! I truly have much more respect for tornadoes than ever...

Pinwheels at ACH : I have been wanting to photograph this mass of Pinwheels where I work since they put them out, but we've had so much rainy weather I haven't. They look so pretty when the sun does shine. Today after work I went in the rain. Here's the story behind them: "To honor Child Abuse Prevention Month, Akron Children’s Child Advocacy Center and Mahoning County Children Services, will host the 6th Annual Pinwheels for Prevention. This year’s theme is Winds of Change: It’s Your Turn to Raise the Leaders of Tomorrow. Keynote speaker will be Judge Mark Belinky, Mahoning County Probate Court Judge with a special presentation by Boardman High School Jazz Band. 1,317 pinwheels have been planted on Akron Children’s Beeghly campus. Each pinwheel represents a child who received child abuse services in Mahoning County in 2010. The pinwheels are also a reminder to those who pass the campus that everyone plays a role in preventing child abuse and neglect. "

Heron Rookery CVNP 4-8-11 : On my way home from downtown Cleveland I thought I would stop at Cuyahoga Valley National Park to see the heron rookery that several people have mentioned to me. As I turned the corner and saw the five or so trees with roughly a hundred nests I was awestruck! I had never seen anything like this. A hundred heron (at least) nesting and flying around. I stayed for several hours to photograph them and plan to go back soon. It was interesting to watch the pairs and assign them "human" characteristics. One couple seemed loving and sensual, one seemed combative and argumentative, one seemed really clumsy, one sat it the nest and seemed to not move for hours.I really enjoyed it! I even caught one couple mating- no shame!

Eagles in the evening 4-9-11 : Linda and I went to see the eagles this evening. When we got there one was in the tree by the nest and the other was in the pine. The one from the pine took off to the marsh and scooped up what looked to be a brunch of grass and flew back to the nest. The other one joined her in the nest for a bit then they both went to lounge in the pine. The beaver was pretty busy tonight but apparently I shoot beaver the way I shoot bears: can't get the damn things to show up in the picture! All I got was the splash.

Flooded Mill Creek Park : I went to the park today to see how high the creek was, and it was scary high! I was a little nervous because the current was so fast and it was close to the edge of the path and I didn't know how quickly it was rising. It was probably up 4 or five feet and I have NEVER seen it this high. It was also pouring down rain the whole time I was out there- pouring, not sprinkling and you can;t even tell in these images. I was soaked through my coat and it's lining. But it was pretty amazing to be there and see this! 3-12-11 UPDATE I've added a picture of the same area taken 1 month prior to the flooding so you can appreciate how much water there was!

Beaver Creek State Park/Mill Creek MetroParks 2-28-11 : This afternoon I went to Beaver Creek State Park and then Mill Creek MetroParks. On my way down to Beaver Creek I had to find an alternate route due to flooded roads. On top of all the snow we had this winter, last night we had 2 inches of rain. Many roads in the area were flooded and several areas evacuated. I couldn't believe how much water there was everywhere! Several farms were flooded and all of the creeks were raging. The most impressive thing I saw was Lanterman's Mill in Mill Creek Park- the amount of water and roaring falls actually took my breath away! I have lived in this area for a long time and have never seen the falls like this!

Blackwater Falls West Virginia : I went to Blackwater Falls in West Virginia for a photo workshop with Joe Rossbach. Saturday morning we woke to a blizzard so that delayed our going out. It snowed fairly heavy till afternoon and the park was beautiful with the fresh snow. Not one of my images showed how beautiful it was. My tripod broke but Rob, a friend of Joe's let me use the one he had and trekked back to the car for another. I am so grateful. In the evening we walked down a road they hadn't plowed in order to get to an overlook for sunset. It was 15 miles, (OK maybe 1/4 of a mile) in a foot of snow, (OK maybe 8 inches) in the freezing cold (It was really damn cold: low 20's with wind chill I'm guessing). Sunday we shot the falls at sunrise then went back to the lodge for class. Everyone left Sunday afternoon but I stayed an extra night. The sunset was awesome and I didn't have a tripod and was really disappointed cause I think my pics would have been a little better. Good trip, nice folks. I was beat Saturday but now I'm ready for more.

Warren and Benezette, Pa 2-7-11 : LInda and I took a day trip today to Warren, Pa for the Annual Eagle watch near Kinzua Dam. It's a poplular area for eagle watching in the winter because the water above and below this area is frozen and the large population of eagles tends to hang out here to feed. We saw 3 eagles, all too far away for good pictures. Then we walked out on to Kinzua dam in the, literally freezing, pouring down rain (it was about 32 degrees). Across the road from the dam there is an apparently popular place to ice climb and we saw 4 people climbing ice. We then drove down to Benezette which was supposed to be about 1 1/2 hours south, but it took 2 1/2 hours because we were behind a semi the whole way. On the way into town we saw a herd of elk down in the ravine crossing the creek but there was no pull off so we went up to the elk viewing areas. First we went to Winslow Hill and the parking area was 4 inches of ice and I almost got stuck in the parking area, and no elk.. We didn't go down the steep hill to the viewing area that Vicki and I had such good luck with because the entire road surface was coated in about 4 inches of ice. Nothing in the last viewing area either and it started snowing and getting dark so we headed for home On 555 we saw a buck, barely visible crossing the road. He walked right up to the house on the corner and started eating their shrubs! It was too dark for decent pics, but I got some to document the sighting. We headed south to 80 for home and ran into a blizzard near Barkeyville and then home.

Stebbins Gulch : Went to Stebbins Gulch today with a group of photographers. It's part of Holden Arboretum in Cleveland and access is limited. When we got there the temp was 14 degrees. We hiked to the creek through about a foot of snow, then walked the creek bed down to the waterfall. My pictures don't do it justice, it's absolutely beautiful!

Kulig 1-13-11 : Mill Creek Park hosted a winter festival called Kulig tonight. Linda, her cousin Sherry, Sherry's friend Chris and I went there for a sleigh ride. We rode a limo bus from the Davis center down the hill to the cabin and rode in the sleigh around the lake. Inside the cabin was a roaring fire, Polish beverages and s'mores. Back up to the Davis center to eat Polish food and listen to a Polish band and watch the ice carver. It was too dark to take many pics-next year I'll try to go when it's lighter out.

Chilly Run kayaking 12_5-10 : Today was Trumbull Canoe Trails annual Chilly Run. We went from Canoe City in Leavittsburg and paddled the Mahoning river to Eagle creek and back. It took about an hour and a half to go upstream, against the wind, snow and current. Coming back took about half an hour at most. Then we had Chile and sloppy joes and all sorts of goodies. It was great fun, but I'm still trying to get warm. The temp was 25 and windy.

Hermitage Pa Christmas Parade : Went with Linda to the Hermitage, Pa Christmas parade on 11-20-10 and thought I'd see how well my camera does with night shots. Volvo Graveyard at night 11-7-10 : For Vicki's last Ohio photo shoot we went to the Volvo Graveyard to shoot after dark. Mawele, Dee and Alan were there too. It was SO muddy and by then time we left it was 33 degrees and we had mud up to our knees!. Our goal was to paint with light. None of us had much experience with doing that, so it was a whole lot of trial and error. I guess we'll just have to go again! :D. Also Dee and I saw a shooting star when I was doing star photos- I was hoping it showed up in one of my shots but I couldn't find it :(

Animals in Clevelands Parks_9-19-10 (otherwise know as Egret Study) : This morning Vicki and I went to Indigo lake just before sunset. Then we went to Beaver Marsh and North Chagrin. Then we went to Squires's Castle, but there were too many people around to get pics. The heron at Beaver marsh didn't move an inch for well over an hour. The egret at North Chagrin on the other hand, was all over the marsh catching fish after fish! I took way too many pics of the egret, but I go some OK ones I think.

Perseid Meteor Shower : NOT! Went with a group of photographers from WRPS, and Linda to watch and photograph the Perseid Meteor shower. I have tried to do star trails before, but without much success. We saw several meteors but they were all over the sky. So I would point my camera to one section of the sky and the meteor would be in the other! I got some weird lights from airplanes though! They look like ladders in the sky. I'll just have to keep trying...

Dragon Boat races & Browns scrimmage 8-7-10 : Saturday I met the folks from CPS at the Flats in Cleveland to photograph the Dragon Boat races. Kelby Photo Walk Part II July 24, 2010 : After the first official Kelby Photo walk we joined a second, as guests, walking around Cleveland. The first few are from the official walk, and the last are from the guest walk. Ron, Dona, Dee and I them went to the west bank of the Flats and kept shooting. Ashtabula Lighthouse, Lake Shore Park, and Ashtabula 7-11-2010 : Steve and I went to Ashtabula, Ohio this evening so I could photograph the sunset by the Ashtabula Lighthouse.Ron from CPS told me this was the best time of year to get this shot .The sun sets by the lighthouse for only a limited time during the year and this is it. We met 2 other photographers there Rich and his wife, and Bill. They belong to the Geneva photography club. On the way the traffic was backed up for miles due to road work and too many many trucks on the road. During this jam we saw a little yellow truck pulled over to the burm. See Old yeller there on the side of the road? and 2 guys sitting in lawn chairs drinking beer in a ditch off the road! It was pretty funny. We crawled in that traffic for 40minutes, So this is what Santa does this time of year! When we got to Lake Shore park we were a little early so we went to the swan pond and watched ducks, geese, swans, peacock, and gulls. Bill suggested we go into the town of ashtabula proper since I wanted to see the light on the draw brigde. We saw the lights, but the bridge didn't go up. The town was having fireworks and I would have stayed for the those and to photograph the quaint little shops, but Steve wanted to head home. I may have to come back though because the shops on the main street look pretty cool to shoot,.......and the boats docked at the marina might be cool to shoot at night.

Tall Ship Sail, Cleveland 7-7-2010 : Went to Cleveland yesterday for the Tall Ships Sail and photographed from the Goodtime III, a tour boat. I was supposed to meet Dee at the CPS clubhouse but my exit off the turnpike was closed-both east and west so I ended up 11 miles west of where I wanted to be. Dee was able to get to where I was and she directed me to where we wanted to be downtown. We met up with Ron and Dona and spent a good 3 hours on the top deck of the boat in the baking sun (97 degrees-Hazy, Hot and Humid). It was fun and I really enjoyed seeing the boats. Going back on Saturday for a closer view with CPS.

Parade the Circle Cleveland 6-12-10 : Yesterday I went to Cleveland for Parade on the Circle with CPS. It was so hot and humid! We got there early so we could photograph them getting ready, then went and sat and watched the parade. I was really impressed with how much time and thought went into the costumes. The big clear plastic bird was made entirely of recycled plastic. The body looked like pop bottle bottoms and the wings were made to flap by the 2 guys walking alongside it

Bambi in my yard! 5-31-10 : MONDAY:Today after the storm passed through I thought I would go out and take pictures of wet flowers. I'm on the ground, nearly on my belly and I see a pair of eyes looking at me through the weeds! It's a toss-up for who was more startled! Bambi just laid there and let me snap away! Then I tried to pull out some weeds so I could get an un-obstructed view and must have terrified him and he stood up on wobbly legs. I backed off and he laid back down. Then after lying in the hot sun he moved over into my hosta bed. Now I'm worrying that his mom won't come back and feed him. He is beautiful and soooooo tiny! UPDATE TUESDAY: Mom's here, but I haven't seen Bambi! Now I want to see them together. (Peter Rabbit stopped by too!)

McConnells Mill 4-28-10 : Went to McConnells Mill State Park in Pa (address: 2697 McConnells Mill Road Portersville, PA 16051.) If you haven't been there and have a chance to go it's well worth it. If you go in the spring wear boots, cause if you walk the paths you're likely to get wet. There are several waterfalls, spring flowers of every type, everywhere. The largest falls we saw were in Hells Hollow. The paths that we were on are very rugged and uneven -barely a path at all, but well marked with blazes on the trees .Going back again with different lenses someday

Phipps Conservatory : Linda and I went to Phipps Conservatory in Pgh today. I had never been there and I don't know why cause it's beautiful! Easy to find and plenty of parking (we got there early). Then we went to the Frick Mansion Cafe for lunch and walked around the grounds. We drove past Homewood cemetery to check out some nice stones and mausoleums. Phipps doen't allow tripods unless you're a member, and then only on designated Sundays.I will definitely be going back to Phipps.

Eagles 3_27_2010 : Went in search of Eagles this morning with Earl and his wife, Kathy. We went to 4 nests that they had spotted earlier and we saw many eagles, both juvenile and adult. Then Ray went with me and we met Earl and Kathy again to watch the evening ritual and sunset.

Columbus Zoo 3-12-10 : Went to the zoo with Elizabeth and Alex. Many of the animals won't be out till spring. Several of the ones that were out, were hanging by the doors to the inside housing-I don't know if it was feeding time or because the zoo was closing. We did get to see the 3 new lion cubs (for about 5 min) and the 10 day old chimp.

2010_January : The other day it was really snowing and while watching the birds outside my window at the feeder I noticed that nicely shaped snowflakes were sticking to my screens. I thought I'd see how well I could photograph them with my macro lens. I was surprised to catch as much detail as I did. I was shooting through the window glass looking out. They need more light but I was able to get pretty close

Dog sled races Jan 2010 : Went to the Dog sled race today in Punderson Park. There was at least a foot of snow, the trees were covered in snow and ice and beautiful. I haven't seen a beautiful snow like that in years. The race was interesting, not as fast paced as I thought it would be.

Bridal Show with Elizabeth : When Elizabeth is home from school she works for Casal's and this weekend they were part of the bridal show at the expo center. I thought I'd practice some portraiture. Out in the Cold-Jan. 2010 : About an hour before dark I went to the park to get some photographs. It was snowing-though you can't really tell here-constant flurries. Because of dusk I couldn't get the snow to look white. The last few were taken a couple of days ago when the wind chill was minus 5.

New Year's Eve 2009 : Steve and I went to First Night Canfield, had dinner, then went to the high school so I could take people pictures. Final result: I need more practice! Then at midnight the school was nice enough to put on fireworks for me. I sat in my easy chair, NOT in the freezing rain.

Cleveland Grays Armory : Went to the Grays Armory in Cleveland 12-12-09. When I got there I found that the ball head was not on my tripod-so I couldn't use my tripod. Consequently, most photos are hand held and high ISO. Ron let me use his tripod for a few shots (thanks Ron). Interesting place.

October 2009 Cook Forest : Linda and I went to Cook Forest and stayed in Deb's cabin. We kayaked as soon as we got there-it was 44 degrees with a wind chill near 35 degrees I'm guessing. Deb and Gary took us to the put in, but Deb couldn't go with us cause her broken elbow wasn't quite healed. We passed a guy that dumped in the river and offered help but he said he didn't want any. Hypothermia here I come! Then we hiked around the forest awhile and went back and watched a chick flick on Deb's huge projection screen. Monday we got up early and went out looking for stars (there were none-too cloudy) and wildlife. We saw a couple of fast moving deer, and faster moving turkeys, but I was able to get some fairly decent scenics. We wanted to go horseback riding but there was no one at the stables office so we went hiking around the Seneca overlook.It was a great time: thank you Deb and Gary.

Benezette, Pa-Elk Rut : Vicki and I met in Benezette, Pa about 3 pm Monday afternoon. Our goal was to photograph the elk which are at the end of their rutting season. We went to the recommended elk viewing station on Winslow Hill and the first 4 pictures are what we saw. They were so far away! It was very windy and I'm sure the wind chill there was 30 degrees. I had my long telephoto on the tripod and the wind was so strong it vibrated the lens. Then we decided we'd drive around and try to find closer elk. So we drove around Dents Run and back to Porcupine, and another side street, and decided to stop and take pictures of scenery since the light was good. A guy drove by at sunset and told us there was a herd of elk just down the road. So we hustled down the road and it was pretty much dark. Desperate to get some closer images, we decided to pull the car around and shine the headlights on the elk and photograph them that way.(!) Hoping that the herd would stay there all night, we decided to get and early start in the morning (up at 5:15) and be there for sunrise.At about 11 pm we went out to the car to get some water and were looking at the full moon and there in the next yard (25 feet away maybe) were three bulls. One VERY LARGE one and 2 younger. The large one's head was as high as the top of the garage door- not counting the antlers. We were so surpised! We stood on the other side of a van and watched, and listened as the big one rubbed his antlers on a tree. The next morning the fog was so thick we could hardly see on our way down. But we got photos! Well, silhouettes anyway. Then we decided to go back in to town for breakfast and in town we saw 2 bulls by the community center. So we stopped and took a zillion photos. After breakfast we drove around taking scenic photos for awhile then back to the hostel (Benezette Hotel is not really a hotel-it's a hostel, but it's cheap) and downloaded our photos and rested for the big hunt Tues night. We found them at a field on the way and it was so interesting to watch them coming out of the shrubs onto the field for the evening performance. There were several bulls trying to get the cows but none were ready. We stayed here till just before dusk and as they slowly moved over the hill we followed. When we got to the bottom there was a bull with broken antlers and and a cow about 10 feet away. I swear it was like they were hired to do a show! The bugling is absolutely awesome! We took more pictures then headed to town to eat dinner at dark. As we were going down Winslow Hill there was a car pulled over near the new visitor center and a guy pointed over to the hill where there was a black bear and 2 cubs. We whipped out our cameras and proceeded to take pictures in the dark! The pictures are horrible but stand as proof that we really did see bears! If you look near the tree you can see one cub, the other is up the tree. We met several friendly tourists. Wed morning was cold, rainy, and windy, and we figured we couldn't top what we already had in that weather. The last few images are from a train tunnel in Sabula.

Beaver Creek & Mill Creek Park : Sunday:Wanted to go to Beaver Creek Park today to practice using the camera in manual mode (I usually use aperture priority). When we got there (Linda went with me) I realized I didn't have my damn tripod! It's a good 45 min drive so we decided to just tour around the place. Since it's wooded it was a little too dark to shoot hand held. The first 3 pics are from there. After I dropped Linda off I went and got my tripod and headed to Mill Creek park and took pics till it got dark. Monday: It was supposed to rain but it didn't so the sky was full of great clouds. Cleveland from Lake Erie : One of the members pf the Cleveland Photographic Society offered to take photographers sailing on Lake Erie for the opportunity to photograph the city from a Lake Erie point of view. It happened to be my birthday the day we went and it was a beautiful day. Not a very picturesque sunset, but I really enjoyed it. It was pretty difficult to take night shots from a bobbing boat in low light without a tripod, so this was an experiment for me.

BUGS : Practicing macro on bugs. I coldn't believe the face on the first one-it looks like a cartoon! . My goal was to get an image of a lightening bug with light on. Problem was in order to get it I had to use the highest ISO in order to have a fast shutter cause they move too fast. So I gave up and shot other bugs.

Miscellaneous 7-18-09 : Today we went to the Mahoning River in Leavittsburg and Kayaked with the Mill Creek Park group. There were about 14 of us. I never saw so many turtles sunning themselves! When I took pictres in the shade I cranked my ISO up, then forgot to put it down again so most of my pictures are horribly grainy. I guess I have to go back.

Fireworks : There are a lot of photos here- I LOVE fireworks! They're better in person, but I liked how these turned out. I wish I had been able to see them somewhere with an interesting background, but there's nowhere near. Maybe next year I'll go to Pittsburgh or Cleveland. The first 10 are from Canfield Fairgrounds, the rest are from Trumbull County fair.

Wagon Trails : I found out about this place a few months ago and wanted to go so I could practice shooting animals. I used my 100-400mm. The place doesn't open till 10 so the sun was pretty bright -it was terrible light. I plan to go back on an overcast day next time. I found in order to get a fast enough shutter with this lens I had to bump up the ISO to 400! In some images the shadows were so dark that when I lightened them in PS the image is too grainy. Kept them here as a reminder to myself. Steve went with me and he fed the animals and I shot them.

When I looked up I saw eyes STARING AT ME at the height of a person! Marblehead Lighthouse : Went to Marblehead in September 2008 with NEOShoots. In the evening we shot sunset at the lighthouse, then got up and shot sunrise at the lighthouse, then went to Catawba to photograph the water lillies and ate lunch at the Mon Ami winery.
